Soft florals, champagne-toned bridesmaid dresses, and the timeless charm of Historic Ashland set the tone for Mackenzie + Brenna's romantic early summer wedding in Central Pennsylvania.
From the emotional outdoor ceremony to the packed dance floor later in the night, the entire celebration felt like the perfect balance of timeless romance and carefree summer energy. Soft florals and elegant details set the tone early in the day, while the reception transformed into a full-on party complete with outfit changes, late-night dancing, custom sneakers, and unforgettable reception moments.
Emma Bixler Photography captured every part of the day beautifully, from the quiet emotional moments to the high-energy reception and all the thoughtful details in between.
This isn’t the first time we’ve featured a wedding at Historic Ashland or Emma Bixler’s work on Firefly Brides, and I have a feeling it won’t be the last. GETTING READY MOMENTS

The bride spent the morning getting ready and capturing the moment with her bridesmaids at the York County wedding venue. Matching champagne-toned pajamas, bright summer florals, and quiet bridal portraits set the tone for the day, while the bride’s soft waves and floral lace gown kept the overall look feeling timeless and effortless.
THE VENUE

One of the things that makes Historic Ashland photograph so beautifully is the variety of backdrops throughout the property. Between The Mansion, beautifully landscaped grounds, brick courtyard, and renovated barn reception space, every part of the venue feels intentionally designed for both portraits and guest experience.
The outdoor spaces created the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed summer celebration, while The Lodge brought a completely different energy once the reception began later in the evening.

CEREMONY STYLE

Guests gathered as the couple exchanged vows under Historic Ashland's streamside pergola. The champagne-toned bridesmaid dresses paired beautifully alongside the groom and groomsmen’s classic tuxes, creating a color palette that felt timeless while still full of summer warmth. The ceremony ended with guests tossing flower petals as the newlyweds walked back down the aisle together, one of those joyful moments that instantly set the tone for the celebration to come later that night.
PORTRAITS AROUND THE VENUE

One of the best parts about Historic Ashland is how many different backdrops the property offers for portraits. From romantic estate-style photos to more relaxed outdoor moments, every part of the venue is photo-worthy.
RECEPTION DETAILS

The reception inside Historic Ashland’s lodge felt romantic, relaxed, and full of energy all night long. Soft draping, candlelight, pink florals, and string lights transformed the barn space before the bride changed into a satin mini dress and sneakers for the party later in the night. The celebration ended with a packed dance floor and late-night portraits in a white convertible used as the getaway car.
